We have two young children in our home, one of the things our children love to do is “Enjoy texture and sensation.” And I feel that it is a very good approach to their brains.
For example, when going for a walk, because of the fear of corona virus crossing your mind, and aren’t you becoming hypersensitive and may be, saying don’t touch this and that, that’s dirty!? Even if I hesitate for a moment, I try to let them touch various things as long as there is no obvious physical danger. The difference between sand and mud, how does texture and weight change when it contains water, and the texture of the same soil varies depending on the location. And also, the paved road varies with the roughness and color of asphalt, and there are rough and smooth stones… and so on. Awareness that leads to science and interesting things in life are everywhere.
The impact on the mind given by the sense of touch cannot be overlooked. Sand-play therapy is a psychotherapy that focuses on the healing effect of touch. It is like playing in a sandbox using miniatures in a small box, but it seems that there is also an aspect of getting healing from the sensation of the skin by touching the sand in the miniature garden with your own hands.
Now, what shall we touch on today? Why don’t you enjoy the feeling of things you don’t usually touch!
