The other day we have performed Okuizome of our first daughter on the auspicious day. The day was a fine clear autumn day with blue sky and the previous day’s heavy rain seemed like a dream.
At the time of the elder son’s Okuizome, one-year-and-a-half ago, he seemed to be greatly interested when the celebratory-tray was set before him, but the moment the food was brought close to his mouth and lightly touched, he began to cry out loud and made a fuss.
And, I was thinking what will happen this time. When the eldest granddad brought Osekihan (celebratory sweet-red-bean-rice) to the first daughter’s mouth she did not cry, and soup she did not cry either. Good, the moment I thought the ceremony will proceed smoothly! Likewise, she cried out loud when sea-bream was brought to her mouth. And the same as the time of my eldest son, the ceremony proceeded lively with the baby’s cry.
I may say that the eldest son watching the proceedings with cool gaze said a word, “crying, boohoo.” I almost felt like saying, “Well, well, you cried last year as well!” and held back my laugh.
