Count Reifferscheidt and his mother, and Japanese pianist Ms. Motô Kaoru in front of Calligraphy of Miyamoto Musashi “Water is White swallowing Three Sufferings, Mountain is Blue encountering Nine Difficulties.”

　Today from Austria, Count Reifferscheidt and his mother, and Japanese pianist Ms. Motô Kaoru have visited our Gallery. Count Reifferscheidt is a descendant of Viscount Aoki Shuzo, who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Yamagata Aritomo Cabinet・Matsukata Masayoshi Cabinet. And through this relation, he has been studying the period around the Meiji era of Japan from the perspective of history.

　Count was very pleased with the calligraphy of Miyamoto Musashi. His character possesses Bone-power. And this Bone-power vigorously speaks to the soul of the facing viewer. I think, as Aoki-family is also the Bushi-class-member, soul of Bushi burning within Count Reifferscheidt must have resonated with Miyamoto Musashi’s calligraphy. I am delighted to find a splendid encounter beyond the countries.
