Publication Commemorative Dialogue of 『Eien no Mishima Yukio』 Tomioka Koichiro x Shigyo Sosyu

 A publication commemorative dialogue event will be held on March 6, 2025 (Thursday) @ 18:30~20:30 hosted by Jitsugyo no Nihonsha, the publisher of 『Eien no Mishima Yukio (Immortal Mishima Yukio)』(written by Shigyo Sosyu). The speakers will be Mr. Tomioka Koichiro, a literary critic who contributed bibliographical note in this book, and the author, Shigyo Sosyu. Shigyo who has had a deep literary and life discussion with Mishima Yukio since he was 16 years old, and leading Mishima scholar Mr. Tomioka Koichiro will discuss Mishima’s thought and the future of Japan and his message that continues to live on today.

Speakers:
◆Tomioka Koichiro
Literary critic. Graduated from the Department of French Literature, Faculty of Literature, Chuo University. In his first year of junior high school, he encountered Mishima Yukio’s works after hearing the news of his suicide by disembowelment, which awakened him to literature. In 1979, while still a university student, he won the 22nd Gunzo New Writer’s Prize for Outstanding Criticism for “Ishiki no Anshitsu Haniya Yutaka to Mishima Yukio (The Darkroom of Consciousness: Haniya Yutaka and Mishima Yukio)” (awarded jointly with Murakami Haruki). Since then, he has been involved in literary criticism and research for 45 years. In 1991, he studied abroad in Germany. From April 2012 to March 2023, he was the director of the Kamakura Museum of Literature. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of International Studies, Kanto Gakuin University. His books include “Shito-teki Ningen (Apostolic Man): Karl Barth” (Kodansha Bungei Bunko), “Kiki no Shotai (The True Nature of the Crisis)” (co-authored with Sato Masaru, Kodansha), and “Kawabata Yasunari: Makai no Bungaku (Literature of the Demon World)” (Iwanami Shoten) and others.

◆Shigyo Sosyu
Born in Tokyo in 1950. Graduated from Rikkyo University, Faculty of Law. Author and businessman. He is a researcher of life theory who practices and advocates a way of life based on the combustion of life energy. He is also engaged in his own art enterprise, presiding over Shigyo Sosyu Collection and serving as the director of Memorial Gallery of Toshima Yasumasa. His art collection includes works by Yasuda Yukihiko, Hakuin, Togo Heihachiro, Nantenbo, Yamaguchi Takeo, and Hirano Ryo. He established a close friendship with Toshima Yasumasa, a painter of the soul, and after he passed away, he obtained all of his works and established a memorial gallery. The gallery preserves and honors his work and exhibits it in Kojimachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
His books include 『Cho-Hagakure Ron (Transcend Hagakure Theory)』, 『Seimei no Logos (Logos of Life)』, and 『Sosyu Genkoroku (Sosyu’s Logos)』series (all published by Jitsugyo no Nihonsha), 『Ikiru (To Live)』,『Tomoyo (Dear Friends)』,『Kongen e (To the Origin)』and 『Datsu Ningen Ron (De-Human Theory)』(all published by Kodansha), 『Oh, Popoy!』, 『Gendai no Kosatsu (A Study of the Present Age)』(both PHP Research Institute), and many others.
