“ARTIS” No.27

“ARTIS” (Art in Latin) No.27, introducing the collection of our gallery in various perspectives and receiving favorable reviews from the readers, will be published on Feb.01. In the interview to the Director Shigyo Sosyu “The Art Talk,” the theme of “Utsushi no Bigaku (Aesthetics of Duplicate)” will be contemplated. “Duplicating” is the primordial act of art. Starting with the cave paintings of Altamira, creators fight to capture the great mystery by duplicating “something” in front of them. The more mysterious a work is, the more it can be said to live on in the lives of others.

The painting at [Opening page], features Yasuda Yukihiko’s “Tenarai (Practice handwriting),” and in [Column] Creators introduces Yasuda Yojyuro. This time, Mr.Kobayashi Daisuke, a businessperson who studied Kant at the University of Tokyo, has contributed a poem dedicated to Toshima Yasumasa’s [Katamuita akai tochi ― La tierra roja inclinada (The inclined red land)]. We invite you to taste the poetry born from a dialogue with a true work of art.

Shigyo Sosyu Collection Display Floor / Memorial Gallery of Toshima Yasumasa will hold “Utsushi no Bigaku-Jiso o miru (Aesthetics of Duplicate-Gaze the Ultimate Reality)” Exhibition (Feb.06 ~ Apr.20) under the same title as the ARTIS. We hope to have you visit the exhibition also.

If you are interested, it is distributed free with regular free delivery, please contact Memorial Gallery of Toshima Yasumasa (Direct phone:03-3511-8162).
