In commemoration of the centenary of Mishima’s birth, Jitsugyo no Nihonsha is publishing a literary essay entitled [Eien no Mishima Yukio], newly written by Shigyo Sosyu, with whom Mishima had a close relationship during the last four years of his life. Although his interaction with Mishima Yukio has been introduced in fragmentary form in his previous works, this time, in commemoration of the centenary of his birth, it will be a definitive compilation of the entire literary discussion exchanged between Mishima and Sosyu over 55 years ago. In addition, the great mythological and civilizational meanings hidden in Mishima’s literature, his way of life, and his death will be unraveled by Shigyo Sosyu, who directly exchanged literary discussions with Mishima.

More than half a century has passed since Mishima’s self-determined death, and as Mishima predicted, Japan, the world, and all of humanity are facing a critical situation. By examining Mishima’s literature, we are reminded that each of us must bear the cross to survive in the coming civilization.

Complete with endnotes, annotations, references, and an index, this is a definitive book that traces the testimony of Mishima Yukio in his final years.
“This book is filled with the nakedness of the soul of a writer and a young man. It can be said to be a fierce time created by literature. It can also be said to be the limpid time created by “Hagakure”. The “dialogue” of “youth” filtered through the sanctuary of memory has now been revived in this world.”
