〈 Wind of Spain 〉by Toshima Yasumasa

Lured by the wind of Spain, Western-style painter Toshima Yasumasa continued his painting career in that land for nearly 30 years――.We are pleased to announce his solo exhibition to be held at Memorial Gallery of Toshima Yasumasa Display Floor (Kojimachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) in three years, since “Fire and Blackness of JOMON” Exhibition held at Akita Museum of Art in 2020. Under the title of “Wind of Spain,” the exhibition will focus on Toshima Yasumasa’s work in Spain and will include many representative works created in collaboration with our gallery after his return to Japan.

In addition, ARTIS No.25, to be published on Oct.01, will have the same theme related to the exhibition, meditating on the creative power generated by the difference and mixture of Spanish and Japanese climates. The influence of the energy body on art in countries with different cultures and climates will be discussed in an attempt to compare Japan and Spain.

In addition, “Zen to Bi―Spain kara no Manazashi (Zen and Beauty-Gaze from Spain)” Exhibition (scheduled for Oct.30 ~ Nov.24 : details to be announced on the official website) will be held at the Embassy of Spain (Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo) at the same time. We hope you will visit both exhibitions to commemorate the friendship between Japan and Spain.
