“ARTIS” No.22

  “ARTIS” (ART in Latin) No.22, introducing the collection of our gallery in various perspective and receiving favorable reviews from the readers, will be published on Apr.01. In this booklet, in the interview to Shigyo Sosyu “The Art Talk,” under the theme of “Yugen naru mono (Mystic Ethereal things),” he will pursue how to perceive the invisible, which is the basis for creating Japanese art and aesthetics.

 On the cover and in [Opening Page] Pursue an Artwork, Hirano Ryo’s painting “Shinrin (Woodland)” is featured. This artwork can be viewed at “Shikisai no Fuga (Fugue of Colors)” Exhibition held at Shigyo Sosyu Collection / Memorial Gallery of Toshima Yasumasa Exhibition floor, from Mar.07 (Tus.) ~ Jun.24 (Sat.) 2023.

 In [Creators], Origuchi Shinobu will be introduced, and in this [Contribution] “My Eyes”, Ms. Mihara Reika, who visited the gallery as part of her curatorial training at Sophia University in Tokyo, contributed a brilliantly talented essay on Toshima Yasumasa’s sculpture “Toward Torso” is printed on this page. In addition, Ms. Mihara belongs to Sophia Topics, the student press club, of Sophia University, interviewed Shigyo Mayumi, Executive Deputy Director, a graduate of Sophia University, and wrote an article.
