“ARTIS” No.30

On Aug.01, “ARTIS” (Art in Latin) No.30, introducing the collection of our gallery in various perspectives and receiving favorable reviews from the readers, will be published. This time, entitled “Sounds of Italy,” in an interview with Shigyo Sosyu, we will contemplate how to depict the sounds of the land, focusing on the works of the Western-style painter Tanaka Noboru, who will be newly preserved and commemorated in the Shigyo Sosyu Collection. Tanaka Noboru was a talented painter who mainly painted profound Italian landscapes, but regrettably died young in his 40s.

The painting of [Opening Page] features “Italian Landscape” by Tanaka Noboru. In [Column- Creators] corner, the life of the artist is introduced. In addition, “Sounds of Italy” Exhibition, which has the same title as the ARTIS No.30, will be held from Sep. 10 (Tus.), 2024 ~ Nov. 30 (Sat.), 2024, and will feature a large number of works by the artist. We hope to have you visit the exhibition.

In the [Contribution – My Eyes] corner, where contributions from visitors are posted, we received a brilliantly talented piece of writing from Ms. Futokawa Rui, in her twenties who has been an avid reader of Shigyo Sosyu’s literary works since she was in the third year of junior high school. She wrote this piece after sensing the sounds of eternity from the Hadda stone Buddha photographed by Shigyo Sosyu. We hope to have you read it.

At present, the “Suna no Jikan (Sand Time)” Exhibition (until August 31st) is being favorably held at the Shigyo Sosyu Collection Display Floor / Memorial Gallery of Toshima Yasumasa. Mr. Abe Hiraomi’s Western-style paintings depicting the desert, Mr. Sato Chu’s futuristic metal sculptures, Mr. Kitagawa Kenji’s object d’art works, and Tachihara Sei’s sand photographs are also on display. We hope you will come and see them.

If you are interested, we will distribute it free of charge and deliver it to you by free regular mail, so if you would like to receive it, please contact Memorial Gallery of Toshima Yasumasa (direct phone: 03-3511-8162).
