A new series entitled “The Global Characteristics of Japanese Culture” will commence at 10 Minutes Academy on Dec. 19 (Fri.), 2025.
This will be a dialogue series featuring the familiar 10 Minutes Academy duo, Kamikura Takayuki and Shigyo Sosyu. What are the distinctive characteristics of Japanese culture within a global context, and what are its strengths and weaknesses? This series will explore what light Japanese culture, grounded in its historical background, can shed on the world going forward.
　For instance, Japanese culture, capable of accommodating diverse values, has woven together unique cultural and value fusions, epitomized by the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism. Furthermore, they discuss how Japan’s “Bushido” is not merely the culture of one nation, but rather a cultural achievement of Homo sapiens that can be shared globally, forming the backbone of future civilization. They also delve into the essence of Japanese culture by drawing on specific historical facts such as the Ritsuryō system, Kanbun kundoku (Chinese text reading), mythology, and the concept of “Miitsu (Imperial Awe)”.
　This series offers a valuable dialogue that illuminates the essence of Japanese culture – something often difficult for Japanese citizens themselves to view objectively – while exploring how its characteristics can be leveraged for the future of humanity as a whole. We encourage you to watch!
　The program airs weekly on Fridays, with this series scheduled for 11 episodes in total. (The number of episodes may be subject to change.)
