BIOTEC Information

This exhibition, titled “Shiki Shoyo (Four Seasons Stroll” (Dates: Dec. 7, 2025 – Mar. 28, 2026; ※Closed on Tuesday, Dec. 9 for a substitute holiday), presents a selection of works that express the profound seasonal transitions and views on life and death embedded in the Japanese aesthetic sensibility. Featuring the evocative four seasons captured by Japanese painter Yasuda Yukihiko, the unique aesthetic sensibilities of Japanese Western-style painters like Hirose Ko and Toshima Yasumasa, and themes such as trees, wind, fluctuation, and impermanence. As the distinct seasons are fading, we hope you will find joy in strolling through Shigyo Sosyu Collection.
Additionally, the Dec. 01 issue of ARTIS No. 38 explores the theme “Shiki Shoyo (Four Seasons Stroll),” same as the exhibition’s title. [Opening Page] features Yasuda Yukihiko’s “Haku Bai (White Japanese Apricot Blossoms)”. The ‘Creators’ introduces Kikuchi Keigetsu, while [Free Project] ‘Here and Now’ features Hirose Ko’s “Tsurugidake Shoka (Mount Tsurugi in Early Summer” and contemplates its color expression. In the visitor’s contribution “My Eye,” we feature a refined prose poem by Mr. Kitagawa Shuya on Toshima Yasumasa’s painting “Fuyu no Tabi―Yottsu no Karin (Winter Journey—Four Quinces).” We invite you to pick up a copy and take a look.
