BIOTEC Information
Under the title “Sword and Flower” (Dec.10,2024 – Mar.22,2025), the exhibition will feature swords by Gassan Sadatoshi, a member of the 800-year-old Gassan family of swordsmiths, calligraphy and paintings by Yamaoka Tessyu and Yasuda Yukihiko, and other works that represent the spirit of Bushido and its way of life as sublimely as “the flower”. In addition, to commemorate the centenary of Mishima Yukio’s birth on 14 January 2025, the exhibition will also include a calligraphy by Mishima, which was presented directly to Shigyo Sosyu. We hope you will be able to sense the souls of the bushi and nationalists who scattered like the flowers and the souls of those who devoted their lives to art through the collection of Shigyo Sosyu.
In ARTIS No.32, the same title as the exhibition “Sword and Flower”, the director’s interview contemplates the quintessence of the Sosyu collection: the “Sword”, which is used to carry out Gi (righteousness), and the “Flower”, which is a symbol of the combustion of life. We hope you will visit the exhibition and pick up a copy of ARTIS No.32.
